A beautiful day greeted us at round three with offshore wind and a lump of swell forecast that didn’t quite make it unfortunately though there was still fun to be had and it was reflected in the scores with the judges being impressed enough to hand out numerous 10s throughout the day, big shout out to Lachlan Chramsie with a perfect score 10/10 which hasn’t happend at QAB for some time, well done!!!
A call to move up the beach was on and met with enthusiasm from volunteers to help make it happen, Thankyou, ( Liam your the man!!) also massive thanks to Kaye and crew for keeping the masses well fed, Danny, Ben O, Zac, Andrew and Ben W at the judges table, Brett in the engine room not missing beat all day and Frank for pulling it all together to make it run you all are valuable beyond words and truly keep the sport alive.
Thanks to our sponsors HB distribution , BSC , Inverted, your support is appreciated and goes a long way to help keep the wheels turning.
Not much of a showing entry wise compared to previous rounds, a lot of guys that only had to show and get knocked to make the nationals team opted out and missed their spot!

The event will run over 1 DAY ONLY.

COMP. will start at 7AM SHARP. should finish at 4pm with Presso
to follow.

Sorry to make it 2 days would have made it 2 very short days.

Ring me SATURDAY Morning if necessary but it should be held
at Broken Head due to conditions expected.

THE COMP. WILL START 7.00AM SHARP with Cadets first
in the water.

What: The second round out of three of the QLD Queensland Association of Bodyboarding (QAB) state titles series was held on 23rd & 24th July 2011.

Where: The Queensland Association of Bodyboarding(QAB) QLD bodyboard series event number 2 on the championship series, was held as a 2 day event at Anne street reef, Caloundra.

Caloundra played host over the weekend to QLD’s best bodyboarders who travelled from Byron Bay up to Rainbow beach, to contest the 2nd round out of a 3 event series of the QLD state bodyboard titles. . The event was a huge success with the full field of 80 invited contestants turning up to battle it out over two days of 6 hotly contested divisions.

2 x national bodyboard champion Lachlan Cramsie, from Maroochydore again cemented his name as one of the front runners on the 2011 QLD state championship series winning both the Opens and Juniors divisions in what became a very successful event for local bodyboarders with Alexandria Headland’s Ben Newland taking out the cadets division and Caloundra’s Zac Sonner winning the drop knee division.

The riders in this event grabbed valuable championship points in this round which is also being used by the QAB(Queensland Association of Bodyboarding) officials as a selection criteria to pick the QLD team for the for the 2011 National Titles which are going to be held Kiama on the South Coast of NSW later this year.

The first event of the year was held on at Duranbah on the Gold Coast and the final event will be held next month at Byron Bay. Points from all 3 events being held on the 2011 QAB QLD championship series will be tallied up after the last event at Byron bay at which the QLD team will be announced for the national titles and the 2011 QLD bodyboard champions will be crowned..

A good start to the morning with some fun 2-3 ft waves at the Anne st set up.
It took a few heats for the scores to warm up. Lachlan cramsie was showing signs of strong momentum with around an 8.4 average. Big shout outs to haydon manion blazing his heat with 19.3 out of a possible 20!
We are aiming to kick off with DK’s first heat at around eight. see you all there.
